California Collegiate League All-Star Game to be nationally televised on July 17

Going through baseball withdrawals during the MLB All-Star break? Well, fear not baseball-holics – there will be a nationally televised baseball game on Wednesday, July 17. 2013 and it figures to be a good one.

The California Collegiate League has announced that they will be televising the 2013 CCL All-Star Game and Prospect Showcase. The players representing the eight CCL teams were selected by the CCL head coaches and will compete as two teams, the CCL South and the CCL North, representing the division of their home teams.


Jameson Wicks (Los Angeles Brewers) and Jimmy Walker (Santa Paula Halos) will be the head coaches of the CCL South and CCL North teams respectively, having earned the honor by virtue of compiling the best winning percentage in their division as of July 1.

The 2013 CCL All-Star Game will be played at the MLB Urban Youth Academy, 901 E Artesia Blvd, Compton, CA, 90221. Game time is 7 PM (PT). Fox Sports West will broadcast the CCL All-Star game live to a national audience and replay the broadcast regionally several times in July and August (check local listings for tune-in instructions). Darren Sutton, John Jackson and Lindsay Soto will be announcing the game.

Before the game, the 60 players will also participate in pregame workout for scouts and college coaches. Start time for the scouting combine is 2 PM (PT).

About the California Collegiate League

The California Collegiate League is a non-profit organization incorporated by eight non-profit amateur baseball organizations in greater Southern California dedicated to the development of student-athletes from across the country and providing inexpensive family-friendly entertainment to our home communities. The CCL organizes a 39-game championship season from June 1-Aug 15 annually and requires its players to use wood bats and professional-level baseballs to further their development as prospects. In 2012 there were 261 collegiate athletes participating in the league, 156 of which were Division I players, representing 22 Division I conferences and 72 Division I schools.
