Dodgers worst fears realized as Kershaw heads to DL

After nearly 48 hours of unbearable anxiety, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters on Thursday morning that three-time NL Cy Young award winner and 2014 NL MVP Clayton Kershaw is headed for the 15-day disabled list after experiencing lower back discomfort for the past two weeks.

Although this news is devastating for the Dodgers and their fans, it wasn’t completely unexpected. Anyone who has ever dealt with back issues is well aware that an epidural is usually the first course of action. But as noted earlier by our friend and colleague Eric Stephen at True Blue LA, the Dodgers may have caught a break with the timing of this unfortunate turn of events.

Although Roberts has yet to name a replacement for Kershaw’s spot on Friday against the Colorado Rockies at Dodger Stadium, an announcement of such could come at any time.

    Reports coming in that Dodgers may look “outside the organization” for Friday night’s starter.
