Dodgers to hold annual Community Service Week January 22-26

The Dodgers will hold their 15th annual community service week with events throughout the greater Los Angeles area during the Dodgers Love L.A. Community Tour presented by Bank of America, which runs from Monday, January 22 through Friday, January 26.

This week of community outreach and fan appreciation will include 12 events and feature Dodger players, coaches, alumni and broadcasters as well as Bank of America employee volunteers making visits throughout the Southland.

The tour will be bookended with large-scale service projects, and will kick off on Monday, January 22 with a Dodger Stadium luncheon and batting practice for first responders from fire stations across Southern California who battled the state’s wildfires. The week concludes on Friday, January 26, when Dodger players and staff – in partnership with Bank of America, the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, KaBOOM! and the City of Alhambra – will build a playground together in just one day.

Additionally, during the course of the week, the Dodgers will work with numerous municipalities, non-profits and team partners to give back to the community, including the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF), 826LA, Para Los Niños, the City of Alhambra, the LA City Council, McDonald’s, the City of Pasadena, Project Scientist, Fandango, L.A. Family Housing, Boys and Girls Club – Mackenzie-Scott Branch, Naval Air Station Point Mugu, the Dream Center and Cedars-Sinai.

As a thank you to fans and the community for their support of the Tour, the Dodgers will offer a 50 percent discount and early access to purchase tickets to six select April games, with tickets starting at only $7. More information on the offer, which will be active until midnight on Friday, January 26, will be revealed on social media early next week.

Monday, January 22

9:30 a.m.11:30 a.m. – LA Reads at 826LA

Alex Wood and Ross Stripling, with the support of Bank of America volunteers, will join 4th grade students from Para Los Niños, a current LADF grant recipient, in the process of brainstorming, writing and creating a book.

11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.  – California Wildfires First Responders Luncheon/Batting Practice

The Dodgers will host over 350 firefighters who battled wildfires in Southern California for lunch and batting practice. Justin Turner, Kenley Jansen, Kiké Hernández, Joc Pederson, Trayce Thompson, Ross Stripling and Alex Wood are expected to attend. In addition, Bank of America Senior Vice President Garrett Gin will give remarks and will be joined by Bank of America volunteers.

 Tuesday, January 23                                   

10:00 a.m.11:00 a.m. – Dodgers Celebrate 60 Years in Los Angeles at City Hall

Steve Garvey, Fernando Valenzuela, Ron Cey, Steve Yeager and Charley Steiner will join the City Council to make a special presentation in celebration of the Dodgers’ 60 years in Los Angeles.

11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. – Dodgers at McDonald’s

Yasiel Puig will take orders and the Dodgers will foot the bill at a secret McDonald’s location to be revealed Tuesday morning on social media.

2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. – Dodgers Pet Family Photo Day

In partnership with the City of Pasadena, Joc Pederson will take photos with fans and their dogs, who will receive a Dodger dog t-shirt. Bank of America volunteers will support the event.

4:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. – S.T.E.M. Night with the Dodgers

The Dodgers will host 100 female students from Project Scientist for a panel discussion about the role of S.T.E.M. – science, technology, engineering and mathematics – in baseball. Dodger General Manager Farhan Zaidi, Strength & Conditioning Coach Brandon McDaniel, members of the club’s analytics department and Judith Peach, a General Manager at the Aerospace Corporation, will lead the panel. Bank of America volunteers will support the event.

Wednesday, January 24

4:30 p.m.6:30 p.m. – Winter Training with the Dodgers

Kenley Jansen, Nomar Garciaparra and Dodger minor leaguers D.J. Peters and Jacob Amaya will lead Dodgers RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) players from the City of Inglewood in a baseball skills clinic with the help of volunteers from Bank of America.

4:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. – Dodger Movie Takeover

Chris Taylor and Kyle Farmer will host pre-selected families from LA. Family Housing and the Boys and Girls Club – Mackenzie-Scott Branch for a screening of Paddington 2, courtesy of Fandango. Bank of America will support the event.

Thursday, January 25

11:30 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. – Point Mugu Naval Air Station Visit

Cody Bellinger, Andrew Toles and Kiké Hernandez will join military personnel for a tour of the base and simulated training activities.

3:45 p.m.- 4:15 p.m. – LA Reads Literacy Corner at the Dream Center

Justin Turner will open a new literacy corner with donated books and materials.

5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. – ‘Dodger Shave Party’ for Childhood Cancer Awareness

Yasiel Puig will shave his head in solidarity with young patients who are undergoing cancer treatment at Cedars-Sinai.

Friday, January 26

8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. – KaBOOM! Playground Build

Dodger players and employees, Bank of America volunteers, LADF and community members from the City of Alhambra will break ground, build and dedicate a playground in a single day. A groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 8:30 a.m. and a ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at approximately 2:30 p.m.
