Dodgers 2010 first round draft pick and top pitching prospect Zach Lee was placed on the disabled list last Friday just prior to what would have been his ninth start of the season for the Dodgers Advanced Single-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. Lee strained his groin during his previous start which team officials had hoped would heal in time for his scheduled Friday night start but decided not to risk further injury and shut the 20-year-old right-hander down.
Lee, who is 2-2 with a 5.13 ERA through eight starts this season, has been sent to Extended Spring Training at Camelback Ranch to rehab his injury. Greg Wilborn, who was a starter for the Quakes last season, will take Lee’s spot in the rotation. Wilborn is 1-0 with a 6.23 ERA in nine relief appearances.
