“Miracle Men” author to hold book signing at Dodger Stadium tonight

Former DodgerTalk Radio co-host and current Albuquerque Isotopes play-by-play man Josh Suchon will be holding a book signing for his recently released book “Miracle Men – Hershiser, Gibson, and the Improbable 1988 Dodgers” at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday evening, May 15 from 5:10 P.M. through the third innings of the game against the Washington Nationals. The book signing will take place in the Right Field Team Store.

Having recently finished reading the book myself, I found it to be extremely entertaining and a refreshing look back on what is arguably one of the greatest seasons in Dodger history, capped off by Kirk Gibson’s historic home run in the bottom of the 9th inning of Game-1 of the 1988 World Series.

Miracle Men also chronicles in fine detail Orel Hershiser’s record-setting 59 consecutive scoreless innings which broke the previous record of 58 2/3 scoreless innings set by Dodger Hall of Famer Don Drysdale in 1968.

Suchon attended San Diego State University studying radio and television journalism and worked as a San Francisco Giants beat writer for The Oakland Tribune from 2000-06. He also spent time as a minor league play-by-play announcer for the Modesto Nuts until hired by the Dodgers to co-host DodgerTalk in 2008 along with Ken Levine and later with Joe Block. Josh was hired by the Isotopes this past off-season to be their play-by-play announcer and has quickly become a fan favorite.

As noted in an article posted here on ThinkBlueLA this past week, Miracle Men is a must-read book for every true Dodger fan – young and old. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the Team Store during the signing.

I wish Josh the very best, I enjoy his take on baseball and the Dodgers. Wish I could get out there tonight to get a signed copy, but it’ll have to wait. At some point I think we’ll be seeing Josh back in LA and I for one will welcome that.

I see it the same way. In fact, I’ve sent emails to the Dodgers front office suggesting that they consider Josh as their PBP guy instead of the incompetent Eric Collins.

I also recommended that they consider Josh when Vin retires. I’m not trying to make comparisons to Vin, but if you have listened to any of Josh’s Isotopes broadcasts (on-line), he does informational story telling in a Vin Scully-manner – not that anybody will ever replace Vinny, of course.
