When the highly creative short video comedy Too Many Cooks made its debut during late-night cable television’s Adult Swim on October 28, 2014, it immediately went viral. In fact, as of today, November 20, the YouTube version of the 11-minute video clip has had nearly three and a half million hits. It is, of course, a nonsensical parody of the many ridiculous television sitcoms and drama shows that we had to endure during the ’80s and ’90s, but it is well worthy of consideration for Best Comedy Short – in a Duck Dynasty sort of way.

While the Too Many Cooks video has absolutely nothing to do with baseball, its cleaver title could be used to accurately describe the Dodgers new front office.

It’s gotten to the point to where it seems as though the Dodgers are adding and filling new front office positions almost daily. And while the Dodgers are not the first or only MLB franchise to be doing so, all of these new positions with their catchy titles must have Hall of Fame Dodger executives Larry MacPhail, Branch Rickey and Walter O’Malley rolling over in their graves.

Gone are the days when a major league baseball team simply had an owner, a president (who was usually also the general manager) and a field manager – that was it. The GM found potential new players through his network of scouts, ran them past the owner, signed them or traded for them (or not) and handed them off to either their major league or minor league managers.

Not anymore.

Here’s what the Dodgers front office looks like today, and this doesn’t include the three new positions filled on Tuesday morning:

Now granted, a number of these positions are non-essential public relations-oriented positions (although well deserved), but the Dodgers front now has more titles than Nora Roberts.

Whether all of these positions, many of which were created under the direction of Andrew Friedman in his newly created President of Baseball Operations position, are actually necessary or essential or not remains to be seen. But one thing is for certain – there sure are a lot of cooks in the kitchen at Dodger Stadium.

Let’s just hope they don’t spoil the broth.
