    GREAT assessment, Jesse!

Are there any new reports on Andrew Toles.I would like to know what happen to him. He was never giving g a chance.

    • Jesse Pearce says:

I have not heard or read any update on Toles. A shame that a personal matter has kept him out of camp, but I don’t agree about not given a chance. Toles started 2017 as the Dodgers left fielder and was playing very well, but tore up his knee early in the season that required surgery. Last season he was playing well for OKC but suffered a significant hamstring injury that cost him several weeks.

      • Ron Cervenka says:

Fully agree that Toles was given a chance.

Although it is completely wrong to speculate or jump to conclusions, Toles has a VERY lengthy history of “problems.” This from a 2015 FanSided article:

Sadly, Toles did not come without a lot of baggage. He received a scholarship from Tennessee upon graduating from high school, but was dismissed from the team in his sophomore year. He then went to little Chipola College in northern Florida and was also dismissed from that team for breaking team rules. Nonetheless, the Rays took a chance with Toles, and in his second year of pro ball, he tore up the Midwest League with a slash line of .326/. 351/. 468 and an incredible 62 stolen bases. Those numbers earned him a ticket to High-A Charlotte for 2014 and the Rays Minor League Player of the Year award in 2013. Even with all of that praise, however, he was pulled from games several times for not hustling.

Again, it’s not wise to speculate, but sadly, the writing on the wall has substance abuse written all over it.

        • Jesse Pearce says:

Yes, I well remember the story. Hard not to relate the present to the past. If the same issue, it is hard to imagine Dodgers keeping him in the organization.

  3. Well for one thing I don’t believe Dodgers will miss Toles, as they already have 3 other LH hitters for the OF spots. Pederson, Bellinger, Verdugo. My guess is Toles has seen his last days as a Dodger last year.
