Crawford, Casey Promoted to Double-A Tulsa

ThinkBlueLA has learned from a trusted source that Rancho Cucamonga Quakes left-hander Leo Crawford and outfielder Donovan Casey have been promoted to the Double-A Tulsa Drillers.

In his 19 appearances (16 starts) with the Dodgers Advanced Single-A affiliate, Crawford posted a 5-4 record and very impressive 2.96 ERA.

Casey appeared in 100 games at Rancho, posting a .270 / .335 / .509 / .844 slash-line with a team-leading 20 home runs and 65 RBI.

Corresponding roster moves – presumably from the Dodgers Low Single-A Great Lakes Loons – are not yet known.

WHEW, I thought they had totally forgotten about poor Crawford in particular! Relieved to finally hear he’s been moved up to AA Tulsa along with Casey. Had Devin Mann not injure himself not too long ago, he would’ve been joining them as well. As for corresponding moves, sounds like either Justin Hageman or Jose Chacin down at Low-A Great Lakes will get a shot at High-A Rancho to fill Crawford’s spot as well as OF Chris Roller (that one’s been opening eyes lately, too) possibly taking over for Casey.

Really good news because it means the pipeline at the lower levels is slowly “unclogging” once again.

UPDATE: Turns out it was 14th-ranked system prospect/INF Jacob Amaya who got promoted to Rancho from Great Lakes and not Roller as I previously thought. Congrats to him, he was the last main player from the 1st half to get promoted and now he gets to play closer to home for a welcome change. INF prospect Sam McWilliams from Advanced Rookie-level Ogden ends up taking his place on the Loons roster.
