Colletti, Langill to hold book signing and discussion at South Pasadena Library

The South Pasadena Library will be hosting ‘Ned Colletti Author Night’ on Thursday evening, September 20 at 6 pm.

The former Dodgers general manager and current Senior Adviser to Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman, and Emmy-award winning analyst for SportsNet LA will be discussing his book, ‘The Big Chair’, and will be joined by noted Dodgers historian Mark Langill in the library’s Community Room.

Colletti served as the Dodgers general manager from 2005 to 2014 and is responsible for the signing and acquiring of many current and former Dodger greats including Andre Ethier, Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, Corey Seager, Kenley Jansen, Cody Bellinger, and Yasiel Puig, among others. He was also instrumental in bringing Joe Torre and Don Mattingly on-board as managers of the historic franchise during his 10 seasons as the team’s GM.

In addition to his role as the Dodgers historian, Langill is the author of ‘Dodgertown: Dodger Stadium,’ ‘Los Angeles Dodgers,’ and ‘Game of My Life, Dodgers.’ He is also a frequent guest on local radio and television shows, and his articles appear regularly in Dodgers programs and yearbooks. He appeared on MLB Network’s production of ‘Cathedrals of the Game: Dodger Stadium’ and more recently on ESPN’s 30-for-30 documentary ‘Fernando Nation.’

Colletti and Langill will sign books beginning at 6 p.m. prior to their presentation at 7 p.m., after which there will be a Q & A session that will conclude around 8:30 p.m.  Special surprises will be presented between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., including an appearance by Roger Owens, the famed behind-the-back peanut vendor at Dodger Stadium for more than 60 years.

Refreshments will be served and autographed Ned Colletti and Mark Langill books will be available for purchase. No tickets or reservations are necessary for the event and, as noted, doors will open at 6 p.m.

The Library Community Room is located at 1115 El Centro Street in South Pasadena and free parking is available in the South Pasadena Unified School District lot at 1020 El Centro Street (enter from Fairview Avenue between El Centro and Mission), and at the Mission Meridian Parking Garage located at 805 Meridian Avenue adjacent to the Metro Gold Line Station a short walk from the Library.
